Constructed by Duke Power Company to generate hydroelectric power, Lake Keowee covers Keowee Town, site of the capital of the Lower Cherokee Nation. Keowee, meaning “Place of the Mulberries,” was visited by Spanish explorer Hernando DeSoto when he came through the area in 1540.

18,500 acres of water and a 300-mile shoreline make Lake Keowee a popular place for boating, fishing, water-skiing, swimming, camping, and picnicking.

Downtown Greenville is Upstate South Carolina’s largest central business district. The Reedy River tumbles into steep falls at the Liberty Bridge, then meanders through rocky shallows with South Main Street’s shops on one side and the Governor’s School for the Arts & Humanities on the other.

Named for the “reeds” that grew along its banks, the Reedy River flows from Travelers Rest, SC, southward for almost sixty miles toward Conestee, SC, before joining the Saluda River at Lake Greenwood.

The Greenville Drive is Greenville, SC’s minor league baseball Boston Red Sox affiliate and member of the South Atlantic League. The Greenville Drive play at their new ballpark known as Flour Field at the West End.

Modeled after Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox, Fluor Field at the West End boasts its own “Green Monster,” a 30-foot high wall in left field, equipped with a manual scoreboard. The dimensions all around the outfield wall are to the same specifications as Fenway Park, including “Pesky’s Pole” in right field.

Fluor Field at the West End is host to more than the 70 Drive home games fans come to enjoy each season. The popular facility is also host to numerous civic functions, like the United Way’s donor recognition event, and special sporting events.
